「有一度我跟著唐諾、黃錦樹、吳繼文幾位讀書，超英趕美，焦慮不已。」[1]。

「你是比較接近上面的時代了。但即使是，我們現在叫五年級（民國五十年代出生的人），也就是 60 後，楊照、駱以軍、甘耀明，都可以看出來，他們有一種語彙上的焦慮──一方面可以看出，他們在傳統的語文訓練上，明顯的不像我們那個時候有──有什麽呢？我們那個時候，大陸來的老師，在我們很小的時候，每個學校都一大堆，他們大概是在民國十年以前或民國前後出生的人。不見得能力有多好，但是作爲一個私塾的塾師綽綽有餘。所以講究言辭還有鍛煉的方法、學習的手段，還傳給了我們。到他們大概 70 年代以後一退休，那個東西就沒有了，這是非常可惜的。」[2]。

「1984 年遠景出版社出版由三毛主編，徐秀美封面繪圖的阿嘉莎•克莉絲蒂全集，是早期重量級的推理套書。1992 年再版，內文文字放大，但紙質印刷上比不上初版精美。遠景後續還出版賈德諾的梅森探案、柯賴二氏探案等套書，梅森探案並未出全。後來月房子出版社也曾出過幾本梅森探案，但有些與遠景版重複，集數也沒有遠景多，這套書迄今無完整的出版品，可說是一憾事。梅森探案雖為美國作品，但早期有些譯作並非由英語譯成中文，而是拿日譯本翻譯成中文，從英語、日語，再到中文，繞了一圈，書中語意已經有段距離，這是早期譯作比較可惜的地方。」[3]。
